Key Information

This beautiful Aston Martin was originally ordered new by a Duke of the Royal family through the Aston Martin showroom on Sloane Street, London. The Certificate of Origin confirms that this example was completed on 6th February 1977 and first registered on 12th April of the same year. It is presented in its original colour combination of British Racing Green with a Magnolia leather interior.

The car remained in London until it was purchased in 1985 by its third and current owner, a Swedish gentleman, who imported it to south of France following a move in 1992  for his retirement. In 1997, both the bodywork and the interior were restored and it has since been lovingly maintained. The owner has regularly driven and enjoyed it for trips to the golf courses, ensuring it remains in excellent working order.

Currently showing 90,080 miles, the Aston Martin is beautifully presented and offered with an extensive history file, including the original V8 owner’s handbook, Certificate of Origin, numerous service invoices, and MOT certificates.

“Announced in April 1972, the AM V8 was an extensively revised version of the DBS V8, itself introduced in September 1969. Externally, the grille was entirely new – no longer sweeping across the full width of the car but instead neatly framed between the headlamps, in a style reminiscent of the earlier six-cylinder models such as the DB3S. By then, the engine was the well-proven all-alloy V8 designed by Tadek Marek, which had first appeared in January 1967 at the Racing Car Show in London and was subsequently raced by Lola in their Type 70 Mk III GT.

The AM V8 Series III was unveiled in London in August 1973. Its most significant mechanical change was the replacement of the Bosch fuel-injection system with four twin-choke downdraught Weber carburettors. This brought smoother running at low engine speeds and greater flexibility overall. To accommodate the carburettors, the bonnet bulge was deepened slightly and extended as a low rise to the trailing edge. Cooling for the water, oil, and automatic transmission was improved, and a new insulation material was applied to the bulkhead and beneath the bonnet.

Interior revisions were also numerous: redesigned front seats; central locking for the passenger door, operated electrically from the driver’s side; updated switches and heating controls; repositioned fuses below the glovebox; a larger ashtray; and a reconfigured fuel tank that increased luggage space. In its road test of September 6, 1973, Autocar recorded for an automatic-transmission car a 0–60 mph time of 6.2 seconds and a maximum speed of 146 mph.”
