Elegance Car is pleased to offer this beautiful Porsche 911 2.4T Targa which is in “Concours condition” after a complete restoration in 2018.
This example was delivered new in Texas in October 1971 and registered to its first owner in 1972. The car remained in Texas until it was exported to France in 2015. The 1972 model year marked the ultimate evolution of the early 911, with an upgraded engine increasing displacement from 2.2 to 2.4 litres, delivering 130 hp. Only in the US, the 911 were equipped with a mechanical injection increasing the power to 140hp.
The legendary and rare “Oil Klappe” also appeared at this time with an oil filler located on the right rear fender when Porsche decided to move the oil tank in front of the rear axle to improve the balance of the car. This system was taken from the mythical 911R which became later a subject of controversy leading to its removal in 1973 due to the confusion with the fuel filler.
The highly desirable Gulf blue 328 (Porsche optional color) was ideally chosen for the restoration, contrasting perfectly the front / rear black grills and Fuchs rims (optional) for a stunning end result. The engine is matching as well as the 5-speed gearbox which was also an option at that time. The other options of this example are the tinted windows, a steering wheel in leather, the headrests and a Blaupunkt radio which has been replaced with a Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) system, discreetly providing modern features such as GPS, Bluetooth, and music streaming in a vintage look.
